I was a transfer student from a community collegeJan 20 2006Archaeology
I was a transfer student from a community college. The moment I registered at the comm. college, I enrolled in classes that would look impressive to W&M. I took the hardest classes and became involved with the school. I was President of a club, active participant of the Honor Society, an All-USA Academic nominee, and an active member in other clubs while maintaining a high GPA. My social life took a big dive, but my dream came through and I was accepted into W&M (first choice) and I'm making some great friends. You've hear this before but I'll say it again - do the optional essay!! I did an extra essay AND a picture collage. Add interesting tidbits into your essay that will make you memorable.

William and Mary was always my dream school andOct 25 2005Anthropology
William and Mary was always my dream school and I had visited the campus several times before I was admitted - I was able to talk extensively with the faculty and professors before I even began the application process. That really helped. For comparative purposes, I was also admitted to the following schools (the only others to which I applied): UVA, Emory, UNC, Washington College, MWC.
SAT: 1400 Male
1. skip the senior year slump and really buckleOct 20 2005English
1. skip the senior year slump and really buckle down. high grades in senior year will stand out above those who drop. it also indicates to reviewers you are capable of college work.
2. pick an activity and stick with it. a sport or a musical instrument. reviewers like someone who can keep themselves busy and show diversified interests. bear in mind there is virtually nothing to do in the neighboring town, so extracurricular activities driven by YOU are very important.
3. initiate and carry through at least one social event that you can talk about on your app. See #2 for why.
4. work very hard on your narrative portion of your app.
